Rabid is now Ackama
In September 2018, on the company’s 8th birthday, Rabid became Ackama - this was to reflect that fact that we work on large digital ecosystems, and given that nature is the largest ecosystem in the world we wanted a name that came from nature. Ackama, or Makamaka, is a small bushy tree with white flowers and red seeds. It’s found on the coast from Whangarei north.

Mai holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and is an experienced rails developer who enjoys the challenges, creativity, and problem solving in software development. She is excited about new web and mobile software technologies and enjoys creating solutions to make people’s lives easier.
Mai originates from the States and spent several years studying and working in the wine industry, traveling across France, California, New Zealand and Australia. This experience allowed her to immerse herself in different cultures and broadened her horizons while honing her palate. Mai has a focus on diversity and this has led her to Rabid, where she contributes with her experience and enthusiasm. She loves cooking, travel, and enjoying good food and wine.
